Guha has insightfully pointed to the irony in India’s espousal of the two nation theory in the practice of the ruling regime. We were strong in our commitment to a secular polity and state even in the aftermath of partition. Bangladesh fares better in that the ruling party condemns attacks on minorities though it continues to be a Islamic state.
